October 9th, 2009

pr_005The cultural project organized by UCIMR together with „Royaumont” Foundation (France) had as primary target to establish collaboration relations with other cultural associations from abroad, with the purpose of supporting original artistic intercultural creations. With this occasion, original interpretative creations were presented to Romanian public, based on free improvisation and cooperation of 2 worlds that would apparently exclude each other: French jazz and Romanian folklore. The merging of the two genres, through performing artists’ virtuosity, creates masterpieces, beyond borders and conformity. The „Jean Marc Padovani” quartet from France was invited to perform in Romania along with the „Dobrogea” band from Romania, interpreting improvised and folklore music, continuing the French tour of these artists.

pr_007The Fantasy of the plane, spread sound bits a lot improvised by the composer, was Mozart’s favorite genre. Mozart wrote only three models, all in minor keys. Fantasy in C Minor K475 was conceived as the experimental equivalent of the Sonata C Minor K 475 overture, Mozart also catalogued the two plays separately and after that he interpreted the Fantasy. Modeled by their literary complement in romantic poetry, Chopin’s ballads unveil the episodes in 6/8 measures. The ballad in F Minor is the latest and the most important of the four and is in the attention of Chopin’s summit. It gains recognition very fast as the missing link between Chopin and polish 20th century. Karol Szymanowski, eager and full of energy, passes to developing the German romantism (Wagner) and Russian mysticism (Scriabin). In this ambitious play for piano he attracts attention to the arioso opera inline gestures and the harmonic of non-functional color, sitting in the background full of memories of Richard Strauss. Along his distinguished career as composer, piano player and conductor, Yehudi Wyner served as Head Conductor at Yale University, Musical Dean at SUNY, composition professor at Brandeis University and teacher at Harvard, Cornell, Tanglewood and American Academy of Rome. His style is a bundle of “solemn” music and the straight American “slang” influenced by jazz, vaudeville. More cheerful characters can be listened in “Don Three Fingers” and “Through Composition”, meanwhile “Farewell, Rome, Farewell” gets its roots from Brahms. The starting version of Tannhauser, playing in Dresden in 1845, had an immediate answer by the compassion of virtuoso Liszt. The beginning overture of the Pilgrim chorus starts with the power of love salvation theme, frenzy of orchestral ecstasy were there is not only the total symbol of romantic era but also the significant personality of Liszt.
